Handling Uber & Lyft Accident Claims in Sacramento
Frequently Asked Rideshare Accident Questions
-
What Should I Do After an Uber or Lyft Accident?Collect the name, contact, and insurance information of both drivers. Do so even if you are not injured at the time of the accident. This will serve as evidence for your right to make a claim against Uber or Lyft. Once you have put together a record of the accident and visited a doctor, call our team for a free consultation to get your case started.
-
What if I’m Hit by an Uber or Lyft Driver? After an accident, it’s important to determine whether the other driver was working for Uber or Lyft at the time. Rideshare claims are complicated, with both companies offering tiered insurance based on their drivers’ status at the time of the accident. You should ask if the other driver: • Had set their Uber or Lyft app to “active” or “driver” mode • Had accepted a ride and were on their way to pick up the passenger • Was in the process of completing a trip With this information, we can determine the insurance limits for your claim and start planning your legal strategy for maximum compensation.
-
Will I Be Covered as a Rideshare Passenger?Yes. Auto insurance covers all accident victims, not just other drivers. If your Uber or Lyft was hit by someone who does not have insurance, both companies carry uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, so all occupants of the car will be able to file for compensation.
-
Whose Insurance Covers an Uber or Lyft Accident? In any vehicle collision, the at-fault driver’s insurance must cover damages including property destruction and personal injury. If your rideshare vehicle is hit by another driver, all claims should be made against that person’s insurance. If the Uber or Lyft driver is to blame, the rideshare company is liable for all expenses.
